u4gm What Makes Scion Reliquarian a Real PoE 3.28 Starter
#1
I'll admit it: I usually skim Scion changes because they read like side-grades, then I log in and nothing really shifts. Mirage is different. Reliquarian made me stop and actually plan, the same way you do when you realise your league starter might not need a shopping list of fixes. I was messing around in Path of Building way too late, comparing early-map setups and cross-checking what the reveal implied, and I kept thinking about how fast you could stabilise if you treat your tree like a toolkit, not a compromise. If you're already mapping out purchases and routes, browsing POE1Items alongside your PoB notes weirdly makes sense this time because the ascendancy leans so hard into "solve problems now."
What Reliquarian Actually Changes
The headline is simple: you're borrowing the feel of famous uniques without needing the drop. Not copying the whole item, but grabbing the kind of notable effects that normally define a build. Attributes that clean up gem requirements. Conversions that make hybrid defences click earlier than they should. And the rotating pool is the real spice. It's not a fixed list you memorise forever; it shifts based on what dominated last league, so the meta leaves fingerprints on Scion every cycle. For Mirage, the dev stream vibe was clear: more aura and resistance style options, aimed straight at the new astral chaos spikes that'll punish anyone who's coasting on "I'll cap res later."
Mirage Maps Don't Forgive Bad Prep
The league loop looks fun, but it's also the kind of fun that deletes you if you're sloppy. Free the Djinn, break the chains, pick a Wish, then dive into a warped mirror of your current map. Pick a Wish that matches your build and you'll feel unstoppable; pick wrong and the mirror map turns into a blender. That's where Reliquarian feels tailor-made. You're not praying for one lucky ring to patch res, or waiting for a perfect craft to stop getting chunked. You can front-load "good enough" power and keep moving, which matters when the best loot comes from taking risks you'd normally avoid in day-one gear.
Build Results That Surprised Me
I tried a couple directions because I didn't want to get baited by shiny nodes. Hybrid Righteous Fire felt clean right away: early ES conversion gave me a comfy buffer and made the build feel less like a tightrope in white and yellow maps. But the real shock was a Bleed Bow Gladiator hybrid. With the right bleed multipliers pulled in early, the single-target jump was obvious—Djinn bosses stopped feeling like a long, messy kite-fest and started feeling like they were on a timer. It's that rare moment where "starter" doesn't mean "wait until week two to feel good."
My 72-Hour Plan
I'm treating the first three days as a straight currency sprint: push into yellow maps, use the Wish that helps map sustain when it shows up, and let the ascendancy handle a chunk of survivability so I'm not dumping points into boring life padding. You'll still need to play smart, but it's less of that early-league friction where one bad resistance roll ruins your pace. And yeah, some people are going to skip parts of the grind entirely by buying currency or gear help from u4gm mid-run, especially if they're trying to keep momentum through the Mirage difficulty spikes instead of stalling out to farm scraps in low tiers.
